We will be in a private library. The space has couches, armchairs, and smaller breakout rooms.
There is high speed wifi throughout the building. I encourage you to spend the day avoiding social media and other stressful distractions, and to focus instead on writing, editing, reading, or resting. Please silence your devices and bring whatever you need in order to write — a laptop, a journal, etc. I will provide extra paper and pens, writing prompts, and craft books to browse.
Please wear headphones when listening to your own music or other media. If the group can agree on a soundtrack, we may play some soft background music in the main space of the library. While I anticipate this being a quiet and peaceful environment, you may wish to bring earplugs or sound-cancelling headphones if you are particularly sensitive to background noise.
I highly suggest you take regular breaks throughout the day to eat, reflect, and stretch. Weather permitting, attendees are also encouraged to take advantage of the natural environment, including a meditative labyrinth, a mile-long path around the perimeter, a pond, and many trees and native plants.

The retreat center is about 20 minutes from Philadelphia. It is easiest to get there by car. You can take public transit, but it requires a bit of walking from the train station. Taking a cab from the train station or carpooling may be a better option — I can provide a link to help people organize carpools if desired.

We’ll be taking advantage of the venue’s dining services for both lunch and dinner. The venue will also provide coffee and tea throughout the day. I will provide snacks and other nonalcoholic beverages. The venue is able to accommodate most dietary restrictions. I will ask for more info about your dietary restrictions closer to the event.

We will be hanging out in the venue’s Library, primarily, though we are able to use common spaces throughout the retreat center. The library has 1 designated accessible parking space, a ramp from the parking lot into the building, and a wheelchair accessible bathroom. Please email me if you have other accessibility concerns not addressed on this page.

The retreat center is a fragrance-free campus. This means no cologne/perfume, or scented grooming products. If possible, do a load of laundry in scent-free detergent before attending — products like scent beads can trigger migraines and asthma attacks.

This is an alcohol free and tobacco free event. If you are a licensed medical cannabis user, you may use your prescribed medicine discretely, preferably in a non-smoking manner.

You must take a COVID test no less than 24 hours before the event to prevent any superspreading mayhem. If you are feeling sick or having cold or flu-like symptoms, please stay home. Consider pursuing a COVID vaccine booster at least 2 weeks prior to the event. If you aren’t personally having cold or flu-like symptoms, but have been recently exposed to someone else who is, please wear a mask for the duration of the event. For everyone else, masks are optional (but welcome).

I am unable to provide any refunds, even if you get sick at the last minute or have to leave early — it’s just too much of a financial liability for me. However, if the entire retreat gets canceled for some reason, I would either reschedule the event or refund your money.
